Research In Motion reported revenues for the fiscal second quarter to August of USD 2.58 billion, up 88 percent from a year earlier. The company shipped 6.1 million mobile devices during the quarter, and another 2.6 million BlackBerry subscriber accounts were added. At the end of the quarter, the number of BlackBerry subscriber accounts totalled around 19 million. RIM said it expects the second half of the year to be even stronger than the first six months, when it shipped over 11 million BlackBerrys. Net profit for the three months to August was USD 495.6 million or USD 0.86 per share, up from USD 287.7 million or USD 0.50 per share a year ago. RIM forecast revenues for the fiscal third quarter of USD 2.95-3.10 billion, with net subscriber additions of 2.9 million. Quarterly EPS is estimated at USD 0.89-0.97. RIM finished August with USD 2.24 billion in cash.
