All three mobile operators, BH Telecom, HT Mostar and Telkom Srpske, are preparing for the introduction of 3G services, Limun.hr is reporting. Commercial services are expected to be launched by the end of 2008 by BH Telecom, which has reportedly progressed the furthest with plans for roll out. Under regulations issued by the Council of Ministers in May 2008 operators that have been awared UMTS licences will need to provide coverage to 30% of the population in the first year of operation, rising to 50% by the end of the second year. It is expected that services will initially be made available in larger urban areas. BH Telecom currently leads the wireless market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, claiming 48.67% market share at the end of June 2008, with Telekom Srpske and HT Mostar in second and third place with 32.74% and 18.58% respectively.
