Ecuadorian state-owned national fixed line operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) plans to cut end-user fixed line telephony rates by 50% this month, according to general manager Cesar Regalado. Regalado also said that the operator expects to invest USD450 million to implement WiMAX technology, to offer both high speed internet and fixed voice services. CNT was formed late last year from the merger of regional fixed line operators Andinatel and Pacifictel.
