The E-Plus Group, Ericsson and the German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will launch their mobile broadband pilot using digital dividend frequencies on 1 March. From that date, 50 selected businesses and residential customers around Grabowhoefe will be able to access internet with speeds up to 7.2/1.4 Mbps using E-Plus's HSDPA network for free. The end-user devices and SIM cards will be distributed to them soon, costing nothing as well. Ericsson provides the equipment needed for the project, which wants to find out if the digital dividend can be used to provide mobile broadband services in rural areas.
