Vodafone announced an agreement to bundle Microsoft's online services with its fixed and mobile voice and data services for businesses. The services hosted by Microsoft and available on a subscription basis include Microsoft Exchange Online for e-mail and calendars, Microsoft SharePoint Online for portals, collaboration and search, Microsoft Office Communications Online for instant messaging and presence and Microsoft Office Live Meeting for webconferencing and videoconferencing. Microsoft Online Services are available already in the US and will be launched in other markets in the first half of 2009. Vodafone will initially offer the bundled services in Germany and Spain beginning later in 2009, and later in other markets. Vodafone will support the customer directly, while Microsoft will host the online services in its data centres. The companies plan to extend the partnership in future to offer services that integrate Vodafone voice and virtual PBX platforms for converged fixed and mobile communications.
